Another long night of homework has fallen upon me. I can't complain too much; I know it could be much worse. This evening of homeworking wasn't too bad though. We had our two neighbors, one of their boyfriends, and my roommate's boyfriend in our room so we were all pretty chatty. Thankfully, we were helping each other out with homework also. I took two years of chemistry in high school and one of my neighbors is currently taking a chemistry class so I was able to help her, which made me feel pretty helpful. Today, I feel like I was a pretty helpful person, which makes me feel like today was totally well worth it. I work in the Psychology Department as an assistant to one of the professors and today, I had a million things to do. At the end of the day, she thanked me for all the work I've done this week and that I've really helped her. Just hearing that made me so happy. I love the feeling I get when I'm helping people and they are geniunely thankful for it. After dinner, I had to attend a Service Learning Fair for my Intro to Social Work class. We have to perform at least fifteen hours of service to an organization and I'm already involved with Big Brothers Big Sisters in Lima. I went to speak with the woman who runs it to set up times and to get ready to start volunteering my time. I love how it feels to help other people out, especially underprivileged children. My Little last year was one strong little girl and I love to believe that I affected her life and inspired her to do well in life. Just looking back on today, I feel like I've been helpful to at least one person in one way or another. I just hope I can continue that feeling for every day of the rest of my life.

  1. It's great that you're involved with Big Brothers/Big Sisters.
