After finally catching up with all of my readings and homework assignments, I finally feel relaxed and calm. I'm starting to get used to my class and work schedule and things are starting to settle very nicely. FINALLY. The first few weeks are always so stressful because you have so much to do. Getting back in touch with your friends, getting your room set up just the way you want it, starting classes and meeting new professors and students, trying to get a work schedule going, and on top of it all, you are supposed to be in class for every class every day. It's a crazy mess for anyone but thankfully once it has happened to you, you kind of get the hang of it much faster.
My goal this year is to be MUCH more organized. I'm one of those college kids who actually clean their rooms, has all of their clothes color coordinated, etc. But when it came to my school work, I just read them in the syllabus and then forgot about it until about a week before it's due. This year, I made a calendar of every week until Christmas Break and wrote down EVERYTHING that is due and when until then. So that way if I have 4 projects due on the same day, I can know about it in advanced and work on it in advanced so that I'm not rushing around with my head cut off. Last year, I only took 5 classes per semester and this year I'm taking six. Who knew how much that one little class could mess things up. Don't get me wrong, I'm very glad I'm taking it now and trying to get as much done as soon as possible. But I feel as if I'm being stretched in a million different ways. None of my classes really have to do with each other much so then I'm learning 6 different things and it's crazy. So, (fingers crossed), by being much more organized I hope I won't run into any of the organizational problems I had last year.
Today, at lunch, the businesses of the village of Bluffton came into Marbeck and set up little tables. It's technically called the Business Showcase but it basically is getting free things and coupons. Two things college students LOVE. Last fall, I wasn't able to attend it so today was my first time. There were people from banks, the pharmacy, restaurants, you name it. Some of the booths had free pens or 10% off your next purchase coupons. But some of them had sweepstakes for really neat things like free tshirts (AWESOME) and free coffee for a month (GREAT). There's actually a new company in town that sells specialty popcorn and let me tell you, I AM EXCITED. If it was up to me, popcorn could be in a food category of itself. Mmmm. =) Free things and lunch = a super great day.
