NOVEMBERRRRRR =)
It's finally November. I know I'm a little late but better late than never. I love November. The leaves are all gone and it's starting to get colder. November also just happens to be the month of my birthday =). This year, my birthday, November 26th, lands on Thanksgiving. I think that's exciting. It's happened one other time in my life and I got birthday cake and pumpkin pie. What more could I ask for. Plus, I'll be turning 20 this year. Most people don't really think that 20 is a big deal but I'm excited because I'll finally be done with my teenage years for good. I'll really be grown up then haha. Anyways, another new and exciting thing happens in November: advising. For those of you who do not know, you choose the classes you want to take next semester about a month or two in advance, at least here at Bluffton. After you've looked at which classes you think you'd like to take, you meet with your academic advisor. For upperclassmen with majors already chosen, you meet with a professor in your major to go over your schedule for them to approve it. For freshman, and others, who are undecided, you would be given a professor that kinda knows it all to help you in the scheduling process. I have two majors so I meet with a professor in the Social Work department and a professor in the Psychology department so that they both approve my schedule or help me work on a better schedule. After they approve it, you have to wake up with the roosters and log on to Jenzabar and schedule your classes with all the people in your "grade" doing the same. Each grade has their own day to schedule with seniors going first, juniors, sophomores, and first years going last. I get to go on Wednesday, November 18th at 7:00 a.m. this year. The earlier you sign up for classes, the better chances you'll have for actually getting in the classes you want. This coming semester, I'll be taking mostly social work and psychology classes because I'm pretty much done with most of my lower liberal arts and sciences. I'm excited for scheduling this year. It's always an exciting experience though having to get up early and try to beat everyone else into a class. Good times. =)
